From small beginnings…
Founded in 2018, and operational since 2019, Local Transit has achieved much for passengers, clients and the commercial passenger vehicle industry in its short lifespan. As a small company with large ideas, overcoming the hardships of covid in 2020 has proven we have what it takes to survive and excel, and to make an impact in the community.
Our commitment to benefitting the community
- Income generating work provided for 37 drivers, including throughout the covid-19 restrictions
- Over 13,000 trips to-date for people with restricted mobility – mostly those with disability and the elderly
- Transported over 5,000 individuals with restricted mobility, including many regular customers, and over 5,000 able-bodied people
- Providing essential services during covid restrictions, such as food, medicine and parcel deliveries, vehicle disinfection, and hospital transfers for people with disability
Our commitment to providing transport solutions for people with restricted mobility
- Over 40 projects undertaken in the public transport arena for government organisations
- Partnerships with disability organisations, government training bodies, aged care providers, and transport agencies
- Innovative public transport trials and confidence building initiatives for users with disability
Our commitment to improving the commercial passenger industry
- Engaging with government transport agencies
- Developing new models of operation using novel technology, a connected driver network and flexible fleet to serve the Melbourne metro area
- Developing a high quality, compliant operations manual and driver training program
- Training drivers in compliant industry procedures, customer service and safety, and supporting them in providing high quality services
