At Local Transit, we understand the unique and critical transport needs of school transport, especially those of special schools in Victoria. Our experience as an operator in both the bus and commercial passenger vehicle sectors, particularly with Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles, has taught us it’s possible to have the best of both worlds: the safety and reliability of the bus industry and the responsive flexibility of a commercial passenger vehicle.

Experience

  • Transport of individual students with disabilities between respite care facilities and specialist schools, such as Glenroy Special School and Broadmeadows Special Development School.

 

  • Transport of over 5,000 secondary school students, including those with disability, from various schools or nearby train stations to Newport Rail Academy in the morning and return in the afternoon as part of their Vocational Education and Training modules.

 

  • Transport for secondary students at around road disruption, such as in 2024 we provided morning and afternoon transport for Mount Lilydale Mercy College students  to convey them disruptions to  the public bus network while the road project was underway.

Our reliable, accredited, professional drivers all have many years of experience transporting people in the commercial passenger industry in Melbourne. Our drivers are professionally trained and take full responsibility for the comfortable and safe transport of all their passengers by following our company’s strict operating procedures. All our drivers are trained to deliver the NIDS transport.

Local Transit is fully accredited and safety-compliant with the Safe Transport Victoria for commercial passenger vehicle and bus operations. All vehicles have comprehensive insurance and are covered by public liability insurance. The company has experience with managing contracts from government and private sector agencies.
