Local Transit was awarded four transport contracts with Department of Education to transport students with disabilities to and from two schools in the Melbourne metropolitan area throughout 2026 – Marra Specialist School in Kalkallo in Melbourne’s north and Ngurraga Specialist School in Melbourne’s south-west.
This contract employs four drivers and four on-bus supervisors of refugee and immigrant backgrounds working in two shifts per day on school days throughout the year. Three 20-22 seat wheelchair-accessible buses and one electric 14-seat wheelchair-accessible bus are engaged on this contract.
To-date, 57 students are using our transport services to get to and from school each day.
