As part of Local Transit’s commitment to Zero Emissions in the Melbourne Public Transport network,  we were part of a consortium with CDC buses in the Wyndham City Local Government Area for a Department of Transport’s 3-year Zero Bus Emissions trial. Local Transit’s proposed role was to provide a demand-responsive EV shuttle to transport commuters to and from new growth areas in North Tarneit-Trigunina area to Tarneit Station during peak times, and to offer a neighbourhood service for vulnerable community members during off-peak times.

Unfortunately, the consortium’s bid did not progress to the final stage of the tender process.

On a positive note, the Department of Transport did take up our concept and a tender for a 5-year demand-responsive transport service in the North Tarneit using 18+ seater low floor buses has just been released. At least the people of the new growth areas we were attempting to serve will benefit!
