Local Transit was recently awarded a 3-year contract to provide wheelchair-accessible shuttles to Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) as replacement vehicles during track repairs and infrastructure works such as Metro Tunnel and level crossing replacement; as well as to assist people with mobility devices at stations.
This long-term contract – the first of its kind to be tendered by MTM- demonstrates MTM’s commitment to prioritising the transport needs of people with disability and other mobility restrictions. The contract will ensure that people with disability and other mobility restrictions are provided with reliable, timely and efficient accessible transport.
Local Transit successfully tendered against a competitive field of service providers and is now in the process of on-boarding with MTM. This achievement represents a culmination of 4 years providing reliable and efficient replacement shuttles to MTM on an ad hoc basis.
