Disruption Shuttles
Since 2019, Local Transit Co has been providing temporary accessible disruption shuttle and stand-by services for Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM), the Level Crossing Replacement Authorities, Metro Tunnel Authority, and road construction under Victoria’s Big Build Project.
Our 12 and 22-seater shuttle buses transport passengers with disability and restricted mobility as well as able-bodied passengers around road and rail disruptions.
In mid-2024, Local Transit Co was awarded a multi-year contract with MTM to provide accessible vehicles for all types of disruptions and for rail emergencies involving people with mobility restrictions.
Between 2019 and 2022, Local Transit Co provided on-demand, accessible shuttles for three on-demand trials in Wyndham City Local Government Area. These trials linked commuters to the nearest train station during peak hours, and vulnerable and mobility-impaired community members to services at other times. They were the forerunners to the establishment of government public transport buses routes in these underserved areas.
